Dr. Afua Ava Pamela Cooper is a historian who specializes in Caribbean cultural studies, history, women's studies and Black studies. She is a Professor of Black History at Dalhousie University.Cooper is also an author and dub poet, and in 2018 she was the Poet Laureate for Halifax. She has published five volumes of poetry.

Daemon Fairless is a writer and journalist with a master's degree in neuroscience, who has worked as a producer on CBC Radio's flagship current affairs show As It Happens, and as a print journalist for the science journal Nature. His first book, "The Curiosity of School: Education and the Dark Side of Enlightenment," was published in 2012.Sherman was raised in Muskoka. In June 2019, Dale was hired by CNN as a full-time fact-checker.
