This podcast does an incredible job, in such a short amount of time, dissecting complex issues of biology, sociology, history, and modern medicine in each pathology they discuss. I’m in awe and I learn with every episode.
this podcast makes me think i have every disease but i love it
i simply cannot recommend this podcast highly enough! it’s been just over a year since i discovered it and I have so enjoyed every minute of listening. The Erins do a wonderful job of condensing all the information into a neat, easy to digest package to give a comprehensible overview of the disease for each episode - it’s so interesting to really follow the journey of disease understanding. Their dynamic makes for fun listening and almost makes you forget you’re actually learning, and the quarantini concept is a particularly nice touch really making this podcast special ??<3
Love this podcast; I love that it covers from the specifics of the pathogens right up to the impact at a cultural and global level. Love the presenters' style, even when they're talking about really grim things, they keep me feeling interested.
Besides the sciency stuff, this podcast also talks about the human aspect of the disease, which is why I love this podcast. Yes, we need to understand how the disease messes up the cells. But ultimately, it is HUMANS that are getting the disease, not cells.
I started listening to this podcast at the start of covid lockdown and I was instantly obsessed! The Erin's are amazing! Super informative and keeps you engaged! I've already almost binged the entirety of this podcast in only a few months.
My best friend and I love this podcast, it’s so informative and simultaneously makes you despair and be uplifted. Also their beautiful voices make everything sound amazing ?
Since I watched "House, MD" several times I have been looking for something in the intersection between popular science and medicine. Being from Russia I managed to come across this fantastic show and continue my marvellous medical series trip. I have been listening to the podcast since the very first season and I am still enthusiastic when a new episode is being released. It helps me to improve my English and I haven't found any shadow of boredom while listening to Erins for about 70 hours! This podcast kills you by its entertaining and clear explanations of chemical processes and curious historical facts. I can definitely say that TPWKY is my favourite podcast and I love spending evenings with my personal versions of placeboritas listening to Erins - two nerdy friends you always wanted. : )This also was my primary source of keeping up with all the coronavirus stuff, but what I like the best are the episodes about influenza and vaccines.P.S. Gerardia!
As a scientist who works with pathogens on a frequent basis, I LOVE to listen to this Podcast while working at the bench. You guys rock and I love hearing about the "bugs" that I sometimes get to work with :) Thank you for giving me full information about a particular disease/plague, kind of a Cliff Notes version so I can research more if I want. KEEP IT UP ladies! Love ya!
This podcast is one that both I and my 13 yr old love. The info is explained very well without dumbing down. I have an MS in Biology as well as work as an RN and I think the Erins do a fabulous job of explaining complex topics for laypeople without dumbing down. I learn so much every episode and their info is backed by trustworthy sources. The early episodes are a bit grating to me in their profuse protestations of ethical lapses in research and societal attitudes (even as I agree’d) but to my ears they are more recently doing a better job of pointing these out while also educating on context (more helpful to understand how not to repeat history). My daughter and I like making Placeboritas and listening together...thanks Erin and Erin!
My 8 year old son loves science. He & I listen to all the kid appropriate episodes on the way to and from school. Some of the science might be a little over his head, but he LOVES it & we listened to most of the appropriate episodes several times. This podcast has lead us to many talks about not only medicine, but also poverty, privilege, & social justice.
I've been listening to TPWKY religiously since about the 5th episode. I'm obsessed! The Erins are so knowledgeable and passionate that it's impossible not to be interested in whatever topic they're discussing. Also, quarantinis? Delicious. Inspired. Incredible.
I absolutely love this podcast. Because of listening to This Podcast Will Kill You I ended up changing my major to epidemiology. The best part is when the Erins nerd out over the diseases. I love it so much and I love relistening to episodes. TPWKY is a sure win!!
This is my favorite podcast for several reasons. Both presenters, Erin and Erin, are smart, compassionate and great at communicating their topics simply and effectively. They inject passion and humor in everything they do! Would be wonderful to sit down with them over a quarantini or two and discuss, oh anything! Following proper CDC guidelines naturally. Keep up the magnificent work, Erin and Erin!
Takes me well out of my comfort zone with science and history and I love it! The hosts make complicated science reachable and understandable!
Honestly, the most well researched, written, interesting and entertaining podcasts I listen to. The Erins are such an entertaining and engaging team! Keep the info flowing!!!!!!!!!
Two smart STEM hosts educate one another on a disease, typically with a lot of information about its history and the medical/biological effects that it has. Very very informative and presented in a digestible and fun way!
I was a little worried when I started this, that it would trigger my anxiety around getting sick. It's done the exact opposite of this. It's helped alleviate a lot of my fear about getting sick or getting an illness. The Erin's present this in a way that is so informative that it gives me an internal power. I recommend TPWKY to everybody
Erin & Erin are my favorite nerd super-friends in all of podcasting.
Love the Erins and love the format of this podcast. I’ve enjoyed every episode and am always looking forward to new episode alerts! They also bring on great guests to discuss issues that they aren’t knowledgeable on. Highly recommend if you’re interested in disease or health at all.
